Second season of Ripper Street coming soon to BBC NL

Second season of Ripper Street coming soon to BBC NL

BBC NL will soon repeat the second season of the crime drama Ripper Street, set in 1890s London, following the infamous Jack the Ripper murders.
Ripper Street follows three detectives working in the rough and dark Whitechapel: Edmund Reid (played by Matthew Macfadyen, known from Succession), Bennett Drake (Jerome Flynn, Game of Thrones), and Homer Jackson (Adam Rothenberg, Ozark). Together, they strive to bring order to a city still plagued by fear, crime, and social unrest.

In the new season, the officers face a variety of dangerous cases: a drug epidemic, a scientist delving into freak shows, a violent women's gang seeking revenge on industrialists exploiting workers, escaped bombers, powerful energy magnates, and even cults led by charismatic leaders.

Ripper Street originally premiered in 2012 and was created by Richard Warlow, who recently developed the Netflix series Il Gattopardo (The Leopard). Warlow is also known for the true crime drama The Serpent, in which Adam Rothenberg played a significant role.

With its historical setting, gritty atmosphere, and morally complex characters, Ripper Street is considered one of the most acclaimed British crime dramas of the past decade.

The premiere of the second season of Ripper Street is on Wednesday, October 29, on BBC NL.

I really enjoyed this series back then. The first season aired on BBC NL in recent weeks, and I recorded it. When I have time, I'll sit down and watch it again.

What's missing from this post is why the BBC is repeating this second season. And does this mean the 3rd, 4th, and 5th seasons will also be repeated?

BBC First/BBC NL reruns many BBC programs endlessly. Just check their schedule; you'll find seasons of long-running series, and early seasons are regularly rebroadcast.
