I really have a soft spot for this type of High School series. Give me Vampire Diaries, Star Crossed or Riverdale, I'll melt away. I got my HAVO diploma more than 15 years ago, so I'm slightly too old haha but I love it. It is especially the combination of the mysterious and the romantic that makes it attractive to me. Nice male actors (okay too young for me, but still ;-)), a mysterious murder and all kinds of romances. I am already looking forward to Friday on Monday, because then there will be a new episode. Unfortunately I have to wait 2 weeks now .... I was slightly in shock when I found out that the character Jughead is played by an actor who played Ross's son in Friends and that his father was Neve Campell's boyfriend in Scream 1. Then I suddenly feel very old ;-)
What a drama Riverdale has become from season 2, especially season 3! I gave the first 10 episodes of season 4 another chance, after the promise that season 4 would go back to its roots, but I notice very little of that. It used to be a fun series, but with regret in my heart I give up. I will therefore pass up season 5 in its entirety.
Luke Perry suffered a stroke yesterday and is in hospital. It is not yet known how serious it is or whether it will affect the upcoming Riverdale episodes. Wish him a good time.
Just watched Episode 1 of Season 4. I thought the episode was a really nice tribute to Luke Perry, a great actor who stole a lot of girls' hearts. Especially with the special guest who reminded me of my early teens, pure nostalgia.
The series feels like a 'young series' from the start. Many young actors, not yet familiar to me, and a young story that mainly takes place with the school-going young people in the village of Riverdale. However, the series has played me along from the first episode. Curiosity is piqued to find out what the secrets are surrounding the murder in Riverdale. It soon turns out that the village of Riverdale has so many secrets that it kept fascinating me to look further. I don't think the acting is the best, but the storyline, the suspense and the unexpected events keep it exciting. The characters also seem to continue to grow in the series. Moreover, the series has a dark, spicy atmosphere. It gives a bit of a feeling of having ended up in the earlier films 'I know what you did last summer'. From the 'blackhood killer' onwards, the series is sometimes a bit 'over the top' and there seems to be no 'safe' moment in it. It is an entertaining series for those who love thriller moments and outspoken characters.
