In January 2023, it was revealed that the fourth season would not air on its original home base, as part of a series of content cuts that also included the axing of Batgirl, Abrams' HBO drama Demimonde, and TBS series such as The Big D, Chad and Kill The Orange Bear.
It is the last series that AMC has saved after being canceled elsewhere; the network acquired Captain Nemo's Nautilus series after it was axed by Disney+.
The first three seasons of the series will stream on AMC+ later this year, with season four airing on the linear network and streaming service in early 2025.
Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity living on a perpetually moving 1,001-car train that travels around the world.
The third season finale showed a split in the train with Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) leading the Eternal Engine and the passengers choosing to remain aboard Snowpiercer for relative safety, and Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs ) at the head of the others on Big Alice who chose to adventure into the unknown outside world of New Eden.
Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Sam Otto, Chelsea Harris, Mike O'Malley, Roberto Urbina and Sheila Vand also star in season four. Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov are also on board for the fourth season.
Snowpiercer season four is produced by Paul Zbyszewski, who served as showrunner, Christoph Schrewe, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Alissa Bachner via Tomorrow Studios, Matthew O'Connor, Ben Rosenblatt and Scott Derrickson, and the original film's producers including Bong Joon Ho, Miky Lee, Jinnie Choi, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi.
The series is produced by Tomorrow Studios in association with CJ Entertainment. ITV Studios distributes Snowpiercer internationally and brokered this deal.
