The Americans speelt zich af op het hoogtepunt van de Koude Oorlog in de jaren 80. Elizabeth en Philip Jennings zijn twee Russische KGB-agenten die zich voordoen als een Amerikaans getrouwd stel in de buitenwijken van Washington DC. Vooralsnog hebben zelfs hun eigen kinderen geen idee van hun ware achtergrond, net als hun buurman Stan Beeman, een agent bij de eenheid contraspionage van de FBI.

I like series finals like this. The story of Elizabeth and Phillip is closed, but there is still plenty to think about. Do I have any questions? Hell yes. Do I mind that these questions have not been answered? No.

Very good series. Well constructed, strong characters, good dialogues with sometimes a touch of humor. Great music score. The 80s are beautifully captured, you imagine yourself back for a moment. No mobile phones, tables, laptops yet, but doing homework on an old-fashioned typewriter. I will continue to follow this series for now. Thanks @Vevie for the tip ;-)

Just watched Season Finale and looking forward to a second season. The fact that it takes place in a time before the mobile phone and 24-like techniques was refreshing to me. This makes some things suddenly exciting again. They also stick to it well, because nowhere I looked (cars in the background for example) I could catch them on something. Recommended!

Nice series with nice storylines. But now that I'm half way, I know he's not going to reach a high level. A lot of tack on, and after 6 episodes the characters remain aloof. Agent Stan is irritating! Anyway, we'll watch it... But it's an original idea in itself, but worked out way too American...

Very exciting, season 2, it is a series that you have to sit for, as an 80s teenager, some things look familiar to me. It gives a more serious look at the time before the arrival of the Gorbachev era, the last gasp of the Leonid Breshjnev era just before Andropov becomes President. The Tension is well present, although not much happens, I think that is a good feature of the series, that real "Underground" feeling is there.
