The Last Godfather is an Italian documentary which is aired on Canale 5. The series premiered on January 13, 2008.
After the capture of Salvatore Riina, the so-called Capo dei Capi, the command of the Cosa Nostra, is passed to Bernardo Provenzano. Provenzano is the man who, together with Riina, from Corleone, he "climbed" the leaders of the Sicilian Mafia criminals, contributing a part to the consolidation of the dictatorship Corleone within Cosa Nostra, and the other part in all dramatic steps that marked the challenge of Cosa Nostra Italian state: the political crimes of the massacres that claimed the lives of judges Falcone and Borsellino and men of stocks. Provenzano, Riina inherits from a Cosa Nostra weakened by the reaction of the state to the massacres and the revelations of collaborators of justice.
