Now also 2 episodes, which I think the series is not for everyone. The series doesn't quite match today's standards... Every episode a corpse, two chases and a severe assault and the masses are satisfied. True Detective goes just a little further than that. The story is really superb. The time span is depicted almost perfectly and the actors portray their characters very strongly, also pay attention to the non-verbal acting performances. And it's not just about the two protagonists. So far a very nice series, at times a bit arty. Embrace and don't let go.

x-on:Nol, I don't think it's as black and white as you describe. They have paid close attention to what a slightly different kind of series should look like, still a bit retro.. And indeed, it falls under Drama and not hard action so if that's what you want, you're not in the right place here. I think the actors are doing a great job but it's a variation on the average English series. Lots of beautiful images, lots of talk and not so fast.

Funny how good season 1 was, how bad this season is. I dropped out after afl or 4. It didn't really matter at all (season 2 at least). Pity.

Bjorn: You just shouldn't take that case seriously. Regardless of your own preference, being able to judge series objectively and competently is also an art and that is simply not for everyone. If you give True Detective a 2, The Americans a 1, but then give The Blacklist, Knightrider, Human Target and Dexter a 10 then you can't be taken seriously. So just don't do it.

Very good acting especially Matthew McConaughey, he plays so well! The last 2 episodes felt rushed, had a lot more pace. I found the last episode very exciting, sometimes a bit sickly if that's the right word to describe this episode. This genre is definitely reserved for Nic Pizzolatto considering The Killing as well. You just have to watch this series, there are only 8 episodes.
