Banshee - Season 1

As a fan of True Blood I really wanted to watch Banshee, the new show from True Blood director Alan Ball. I didn't know what to expect. What is it about, who are the actors, what's the storyline? Would it be bloody, brutal, exciting and sexy? I started watching Banshee and within minutes it got me on the edge of my seat. Excitement, violence and a nude scene were the ingredients of the first minutes of Banshee. This new show could be a great one!

Banshee starts as a master thief (Antony Starr, Rush) is being released from jail. He spent fifteen years in jail for stealing diamonds from a guy called Mr. Rabbit. Within ten minutes he's being chased through the streets of Manhattan. The men who are chasing him are working for Mr. Rabbit. While stealing a motorcycle, he escapes and drives all the way to Banshee; a little Amish town. Why? Does he want peace and to enjoy his time of freedom, or is there someone he wants to meet?

He ends up in a bar that is owned by Sugar Bates (Frankie Faison, One Life to Live). He's a former boxing champion. There the man (still without a name) sits down for a drink. Next to him the new sheriff of Banshee is sitting, nobody knows him, they only know his name: Lucas Hood. When two men start a fight in the bar, the ex-con wants to stop the fight, but things just head for the worse and the soon to be sheriff Lucas Hood gets killed. The master thief steels the most important thing in the world; an identity! The man without a name becomes Lucas Hood, Sheriff Hood!

The first thing Hood does, is look for his ex- partner in crime and ex-girlfriend Carrie Hopewell (Ivana Milicevic, Vegas, Charmed). She's now the wife of Banshee’s district attorney Gordon Hopewell (Rus Blackwell, Magic City). Hood has to fight the past and keep the people of Banshee safe at the same time. But Banshee is a corrupt, fearfull place ruled by Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen, a Danish actor from The World Is Not Enough). He lives above the law and owns most of the city.

Throughout the season you'll meet more people from Hoods past. In episode six you'll meet the terrifying Albino (Joseph Gatt, Thor). He could be one of the reasons Hood acts the way he does. And then there's Job (Hoon Lee, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) a transvestite hair salon owner by day, but also a criminal by night. But the biggest criminal of all is Mr. Rabbit (Ben Cross, The citadel, Star Trek). He will hunt down Hood until he's dead and gone.

After just three episodes Cinemax decided to buy a second season. Banshee is a show that makes you shiver. It could turn your stomach and makes your skin crawl. It has violence and sex in it, but it also has a hint of romance. You'll meet Lucas Hood and you will discover; Hood isn't all that bad. Underneath the tough looks there's a guy with feelings. Feelings for Carrie, her kids and for his friends. He will do anything to keep them safe and to keep his true identity hidden from everyone.

Banshee is the kind of show I have never seen before. The brutal fights, the steamy sex scenes, the nudity and the great storyline, all those things and more makes Banshee the best show ever. It's like being a voyeur, a fly on the wall. Banshee gives you a feeling; the adrenaline pumped through my veins while watching the fight scene in episode three. I had nightmares because of the brutal scene with the Albino (Joseph Gatt) and Lucas Hood in prison.

Banshee isn't a show just for men, woman will love it to. The guys are handsome, the girls are beautiful, it's a good story. It makes you wonder if you can ever forget your past! I'm an addict, a fanshee. Banshee does not only make you wonder what's going to happen next. You will also wonder what happened in the past. The people of Banshee give you a little sneak peak into the past. Go to: www.welcometobanshee.com and watch what happened up to fifteen years ago.
