Homeland also a favorite with the Dutch viewers

The Dutch viewers have also chosen the American show Homeland as Best Drama Series of 2012. Of the 8736 casted votes most of the votes went to the show about the threat of terrorism. Last week, the show won three Golden Globes, including Best Drama Series. The Big Bang Theory has been voted Best Comedy Series. Best New Series in 2012 is Arrow, which started airing last fall.

This year for the first time, the website MySeries.tv asked visitors to cast their vote for series in three categories: Best Drama Series, Best Comedy Series and Best New Series in 2012.

Drama Series
The Series Game of Thrones earned a second place in the category Best Drama Series, Dexter followed shortly after in a third place. Breaking Bad got in fourth place and the lesser known series, Person of Interest, made the top five complete. Game of Thrones and Person of Interest are also being broadcasted on Dutch television.

Comedy Series
The Big Bang Theory got by far the most votes in the category Best Comedy Series, followed by How I Met Your Mother, Californication, Two and a Half Men and Modern Family. The majority have a primetime spot on Dutch television.

Best New Series: Arrow
The Best New Series of 2012 can been seen on Dutch television starting February third and is a big hit in America. The series is about billionaire Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). He spent five years on a deserted island after being shipwrecked, but eventually returns to his hometown to fight crime and corruption as a kind of secret vigilante. His weapon: bow and arrow. The series has been called a kind of combination between Batman and The Bourne Identity.

None of the series are being broadcasted on Dutch television (yet). Shortly after Arrow follows Revolution in the second spot as Best New Series. A show about a world with no electricity. Touch, starring Kiefer Sutherland, holds third place. Chicago Fire, an action series about firemen of the Chicago Fire Department is in fourth place. Continuum, a Canadian science fiction series, closes the top five.
