'Ripper Street' the BBC’s Victorian-era drama will not be renewed for a third season. This because the ratings in the UK were dropping during the second season.
The first season had an average of 5 million viewers per episode. That figure dropped to 3.26 million and a 13% share for last Monday's episode from the second season. Part of the reason for the drop in viewers is the competition from ITV's reality hit "I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!”
Actor Jerome Flynn says: "We found out this week that the third series of 'Ripper Street' isn't going. We're all in absolute shock because it's a wonderful job and we feel like it's kind of this unfinished work. So we're hoping it will turn around if anyone from the BBC is listening”
'Ripper Street' has a couple of episodes left this second seasons and that is it.
