After a short Corona break, production on the second season of The Witcher was able to resume in June. Netflix has now revealed that production on the new season has finished. With the announcement came the reveal that the second season will release in 2021. A specific date for the return of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill, The Tudors) and the other characters has not been given.
The Witcher is based on the best-selling fantasy novel series with the same name. The story revolves around Geralt of Rivia, a lonely monster hunter who struggles to find his place in a society where humans often behave like beasts. The second season will go back in time and show a young Geralt. Netflix hasn't been working on only the second season during the last period. Last year, the prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin was announced.
