Joel McHale will guest star in the third season of the Emmy-nominated series Yellowjackets. Details about McHale's role (photo below) are still being kept secret. The third season of the series is in production and consists partly of a survival epic, a psychological horror story and a coming-of-age drama.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos), Yellowjackets is the story of a team of highly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to fierce clans, while also following the lives they try to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never truly over and what began in the wilderness is far from over.
In addition to Lyle, Nickerson and their fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco, Creative Engine's Drew Comins, Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon serve as executive producers. The series is produced for Showtime by Lionsgate.
McHale is an actor, comedian and television host best known for his starring role in NBC's cult comedy series Community, which will soon receive a highly anticipated film continuation. He is currently executive producer and star of Animal Control, the Fox comedy series that has been renewed for a third season. He also recently appeared as Chef David, the violent former boss of Jeremy Allen White's Carmy, in FX's Emmy-winning comedy-drama series The Bear.
