Starz will expand the world of Outlander with a prequel series now in the works.

"The tide has turned", says Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in the recently released trailer for the sixth season of Starz' Outlander. It is a warning for what's to come.

The news was revealed by Diana Gabaldon, author of the Outlander book series upon which the historical drama series is based. She talked about this during the launch of the ninth book in the series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.

“It’s starting,” declares Caitriona Balfe’s Claire Fraser as the Revolutionary War sparks in the New World and old oppressors have new foes in the upcoming sixth season of Outlander.

Starz has revealed that the long-awaited sixth season of Outlander is going to premiere in early 2022. The season will have fewer episodes than expected.

The sixth season of Outlander hasn't even released as of yet, but Starz has already renewed the series with its seventh season.
